Sri Karapatra Swami (1907-1980) was born as Har Narayan Ojha into a Brahmin family in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. At the age of 19, he left his family, became a monk of the Hindu Dashanami tradition, and a spiritual teacher (Pithadhipati) in Varanasi, India. He is the author of many writings.
In the first half of the 20th century, Sri Karapatra Swami created a condensed version of Advaita Bodha Deepika in Sanskrit, which was then translated into Tamil and subsequently into English.
